So sorry to hear of your father-in-law’s passing. July 4th was always a huge family event in my ex-husband’s family, as well as a TON of July birthdays, including my son’s. Paw Paw’s passing on July 9th many years ago, makes this holiday bittersweet for my former in-laws, with whom I am still close. I took Grandma another 4th of July recipe (a buttermilk custard pie, with blueberries and raspberries to provide the red and the blue of the “red, white, and blue.” But if I had seen this recipe first, I think I would have taken her these treats that sound so delicious. Hope you and your family are doing as well as you possibly can.
