Hey y’all!  Mandee here from The Kitchen Wife! I have one thing to say, WE MADE IT!  Yes, Christmas 2015 has come and gone.  The presents have been purchased, wrapped, and opened.  The food, cooked and eaten. We’ve cleaned up, and some of you may have even taken the decorations down.  You survived.  Now you can sit back and relax.  But wait!  What?  New Years!?!  Oh man, You had forgotten about New years!  What on earth are you going to make now?  Don’t sweat this!  I got you.  In fact, my Southern Style Ham Salad Recipe or Deviled Ham, as it is sometimes called, is the perfect thing for your New Years Eve get together. The best part? It’s made from your holiday leftovers!

For Christmas this year we made this DELICIOUS Sweet and Spicy Glazed Ham.  Oh y’all it was to die for. The thing is, there are only three of us in the house and we always have TONS of leftovers.  So this year instead of the usual suspects like my Scalloped Potatoes with Ham, my husband said why not make some Deviled Ham?  I had heard of ham salad, but never Deviled Ham. I did a little research and discovered that it is very similar to my Southern Style Ham Salad.   It’s perfect on sandwiches, crackers, so many thing.  The best part, you have everything you need for it in your fridge! I can’t wait to share this recipe for you, so…

Let’s Get Started!

Southern Style Ham Salad:
Prep Time: 10 min.  *Cook Time: —  *Difficulty:  Easy  *Servings:  2 cups

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb, of left over Ham (You can also use deli meat ham for this)
  • 4 oz.  Cream Cheese, room  temperature
  • 1/4 c Mayonnaise
  • 2 Scallions, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. fresh cut Parsley
  • 3 tsp. Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 2 tsp. Whole Grain Mustard (or plain yellow mustard)
  • 1 tsp. Sriracha Sauce
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

To begin just give the leftover ham a rough chop.
This will help it get going in the food processor a little easier.

Place it into the food processor.

And pulse it until it ‘s finely chopped, but not a paste.
You don’t want it to be come a paste, because you still have more blending to do.

Now add the cream cheese, mayonnaise, scallions, parsley, mustard, and sweet pickle relish to the food processor.

Next you’ll add the sriracha sauce and…

Worcestershire Sauce to the food processor.

Add a pinch of salt and…

Pepper then place the lid on and fire it up!

Blend until it is a creamy, spread-like, texture.

And it’s that simple!  I like to serve this as little tea sandwiches at parties, but placing it in a little ramekin, as I did here, on a platter with raw veggies and crackers is great too. This Southern Style Ham Salad hits all the right notes on your palette too.  Salty and savory from the ham and Worcestershire sauce, but sweet and tangy from the relish and mustard. Oh, and don’t forget that little kick of spice from the sriracha! This ain’t your mamma’s ham salad.  The complex flavors will have your guests begging for more, and no one would ever guess that you made it from your holiday leftovers!  So this New Year’s don’t sweat the small bites, and as always…

Happy Reading, Happy Eating, and Happy Living,
~The Kitchen Wife~
