Get Me Organized! (Cleaning too!)

Battery Organizer

After working full time for 8 years, my last day of work is this Friday.  Woop! Woop!

One of the things that I am most excited about being able to stay home is to get my home organized again.  It is so hard after working all day, to come home and be motivated to clean, pick up and organize, right?

Just recently I did find a great cleaning chart for working women by my friend Jeni who blogs over at Bakerette.com.  In addition to posting on her blog, she also works full time and can relate to all of the many responsibilities that come along with being a working mom.   Click here to get a copy of her free cleaning chart!  Even if you don’t work outside the home, it’s a great help to have.

Before I started working full-time  I was using a cleaning schedule that I found on a website called FlyLady.net   This gal is UH-mazing!  She gives you daily emails and tells you what areas to clean and  helps you with your hot spots around the house so that you will never be in “CHAOS”.  Which stands for “Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome” because your house is a mess and isn’t ready for guests!

I specifically remember that one day, the goal was to clean out your bathroom drawers.  You know the one.  The drawer where you put your hairbrush in that leaves hair all over the rest of the items in your drawer.  Don’t deny it!  Well, I cleaned it out and I felt so invigorated!  I wanted to take my hairbrush and use it as a microphone and sing through the house!  Wow it felt great!

So now that I won’t be working full time I have signed back up for my FlyLady emails and am looking forward to getting my house more in order.  In an effort to get going and keep my excitement up, I decided to start with something small and organize my batteries.  There is a great pin from The OCD Life that got me motivated and here is my result:Your husband will pick you up and swing you around if you can just get your batteries organized. Do it today! madefrompinterest.net

I picked up the plastic organizer at JoAnn’s Crafts for $10.00.  It was great because they had removable plastic partitions and you could make the different compartments any size  that you want.

How did this make me feel?  Like Yoplait Good.  Like Chocolate Good.  Like Martha Stewart Good.

So put a bounce in your step and get your batteries organized today.  It will make Martha proud.  And heck, it will make me proud too!

Now let’s go out and do the right things today!

This Pin Rocks!

I am also a Flybaby as is my sister, we LOVE Flylady!! She has helped us so much! Now to just get back on track with her…my house has gone back to CHAOS but I know now that I can whip it back into shape quickly with her help!

This is a great idea. I just wanted to add that I found this same organizer at Walmart for $4–we have one that we use for DD’s very small toys (buttons, beads, Squinkies, all kinds of tiny things).

I just saw a video on the internet about a guy who had 9v (the square batteries) in a bag to be recycled in his garage and somehow the bag got jostled and they somehow rubbed and ended up starting a fire and basically burning his house. He said that you should put electrical tape on the ends just in case they get jostled so they don’t short and start a fire. Doesn’t hurt to know. Maybe not for before storage but when you put them aside to recycle (because we all know that it is supposed to be illegal to throw batteries in the garbage even though I think 99.5% of the population does it)

Juanita…I have never heard that before so good to know. I always kept my batteries in my freezer and my husband thought I was nuts. Turns out, that’s not necessary for the way batteries are made today. So I guess I just got some more room in my freezer! Thanks for sharing! Deb – The Oldest Sister

I use mine all the time and it is so convenient just to have them ready to go!
