Homemade Air Freshener

Post

I use these all over the house! Pretty and practical. Instructions at MadeFromPinterest.netThis is one of my favorite posts I have done since we started our blog. This post is one of our most searched on Google.  I refresh mine every three or four months. They are so effective and less expensive than purchased air fresheners. I love experimenting with different scents for each room of the house.Just a few ingredients and you can whip up a great room freshenerTo do this project you need a small mason jar, cheesecloth, baking soda and essential oil. Essential oil can be purchased at craft stores and health food stores.  I got mine at GNC.  Just spoon about an inch of baking soda into the mason jar and add 8 to 10 drops of essential oil. Cover the lid with cheesecloth and screw on the band. Trim away any excess cheesecloth. Tie a ribbon around the band, or pop it into an pretty organza bag like I did. You can see the original post here.

Instead of little mason jars, which I didn’t have, I used pimento jars. I poked holes In the lids with a nail (you could do It In a pattern like an initial or a star), and spray painted the lids.

I’ll definitely try this recipe. Air fresheners use toxic ingredients to dull your sense of smell, and overpower it with strong perfumes. They are dangerous to have in our homes, and can cause cancer! Safe, natural scents stand out from all the fake ingredients in air fresheners and the natural smells of the outdoors envigorate us!

Great idea! I’ve been having a lot of sinus issues ever since I’ve moved to NC so I’ve been trying a lot of “eco-friendly” air fresheners. I will definitely try this one since most don’t seem to last as long as I’d like. Thank you so much for sharing 🙂

You are so welcome! I refresh mine with a little more essential oil when it wears out. It is such a nice, fresh smell.
