Buy packets of unsugared kool-aid (remember that?), drop one in toilet, wait a few minutes, flush and your toilet should look great. For the most [part, there is no need to brush and/or scrub it. I will say that most who have done this procedure have raved about how well (and cheaply) it works. There have been onmly a FEW who have been disappointed with it. Maybe their stains are just of a differewnt nature. Good Luck!

I use denture tablets to clean my toilets. They are super cheap and because they clean and whiten dentures they clean toilets the same way. I drop two or three tablets in and let it sit. I admit that it doesn’t miraculously make them super clean but it does make the hard water line easier to clean and that spot at the bottom I seem to never be able to hit with the brush. 🙂

In reply to Melanie. Haha! I tried that one too! Neither worked. The only thing that worked in ours was me on my hands and knees scrubbing with a pumice stone. EWWW! I am really loving the scrubbing bubbles flushable things though. I just wish they were cheaper!

In reply to Rae. the toilet bowl cleaner called "the works" they sell at most dollar tree stores is so good you see stains disappear as it hits the toilets, the most you have to to is one wipe with the toilet brush although I never have had to.... it also gets rid of hard water stains in bathtubs

I saw this coke trick too and tried it, luckily I bought the super cheap cola as my results were the same as yours. It just didn’t work at all. Should have just put rum, vodka or JD in it (the coke not the toilet) then I wouldn’t mind cleaning the toilet so much!

Pour bleach into the toilet and let it sit as long as necessary…even overnight. Also can be used on the shower. No scrubbing just rinse.

Use a Pumie stone on the ring! I did it on mine and they are sparkling! 🙂 Good thing is that it’s dirt cheap, like $1.88 for the bar at Walmart that you can use again and again.

Hi Rae! Yeah, it didn’t work for me. And I even tried it twice. I’ve come to the conclusion that if something says it’s easy to clean a toilet, it’s probably too good to be true and I’m going to just have to put some elbow grease into it. Darn it! Deb – The Oldest Sister

Glad I found this post… I have been having a tough time with the stains in my toilet and thought this AM that I might as well try the coke ‘trick’… now I won’t bother and will save time and money! (Soda where I live is very expensive.)

My heart is so broken. But I completely understand the need to clean. I have one for you…
We inherited my “DIVORCED/NEVER RE-MARRIED” father-in-law’s house. The shower was… There are no words. A friend told me to use Clorox toilet bowl cleaner on the shower tiles to remove all the mold, mildew, hard-water stains, and soap scum. I thought “surely you jest!” But after lathering it on and leaving it for two hours, my mourning turned to dancing. I now have a white shower.
Just thought I would share.
