In reply to Stephanie. Stephanie, My guess is that you may have used too much bleach. Next time allow the shirt to dry completely before washing it and you should have no problems! Thanks so much for following us, Tracy

My mom and I tried this project. However we had problems with the Bleach bleeding through when the shirt was washed despite allowing it to set for the 15 to 30 minutes. Any suggestions to help with this? Also could whoever suggested the cold water deactivating technique offer clarification as to how to do it without the bleach bleeding all over the rest of the shirt? Thanks!

In reply to Julie. We've done crafts like these with scouts many times and they are always fun for the kids and adults. We've always used foam craft sheets. Cut out your design and lay it on the shirt. We generally put something inside the shirt, like cardboard, to keep the bleach from bleeding to he other side. We also rinse our shirts in cold water to deactivate the bleach, immediately after spraying them. If not sometimes the bleach can eat through the material. And we always recommend that when washed for the first time the project is washed alone.
