Granny Square Baby Blanket

This free crochet pattern 4-Square Baby Throw is from Lionbrand Yarn. I hadn’t crocheted any “granny square” patterns before so I was curious to see how difficult it would be and how it would turn out.

First things first, let explain what kind of “crocheter” I am. Some people enjoy very complicated patterns that require alot of time and effort.

I am not one of those people. I want a pattern that I can do with as LITTLE thought and effort as possible. I want to sit on the couch and crochet while watching a TV show that I don’t like (because my husband chose it) and crochet away without having to refer to instructions or do a lot of “stitch counting”. I find an easy repetitive stitch that requires little thought or talent to be very soothing. In the end I want a blanket that looks just as beautiful as the ones with complicated patterns.

I got everything I wanted with this pattern. It took around 10 to 15 minutes to learn/figure out the pattern and I was off and running! I made this blanket while we drove to Utah to attend my niece’s baby shower. Yes I was cutting it pretty close but got it done in time for the baby shower! It took around 10 hours including the border to complete. If you look closely you will notice I did a few extra rows for my border.

I LOVE how it turned out.
