Ann, from the info I’ve found online, the equivalents of Dawn and Jet Dry are Fairy Platinum washing-up liquid and Finish rinse aid.

I have been using this procedure for two years now. I think it works great. I did however add one step. I use a squeegee immediately after the rinse. The windows look great.
I have a couple of windows that are quite high and I sometimes do not squeegee them off. It does leave a slight haze if I don’t squeegee.
I use a telescoping pole with a lambs wool pad on it for the scrubber. Then I rinse off and then squeegee. Looks great. Clear as a bell. Will never go back to windex out side. Inside I use Sprayway Glass Cleaner with the blue car paper shop towels. Not the paper towels you buy at the grocery store.

Didn’t work on my windows either…..now I have to clean them again so it’s double the work . I think I’ll try again and hand dry them….ugh

Hi, Kate! If you look towards the bottom of the post I updated it with directions for removing hard water spots. This should cut down your scrubbing time considerably. Enjoy your sparkling clean windows! Tracy

I put a towel down to do the inside windows. I spray the cleaner on first with a spray bottle. Then I have another spray bottle of water to “hose” it down with. Pick up the towel in a couple minutes. If you use 2 or 3 towels and dont have to wait it goes very quickly

I just used this mixture on some glass out of several grungy picture frames. I used a dish rag to clean (using the mixture) then rinsed with warm water. SPOTLESS. Since the glass worked so well, I tried it on my back door glass. I again used the dish rag to remove the “funk” then this time, I dried the window lightly with a paper towel. Again, SPOTLESS.

The mixture was comprised of “some water” maybe half gallon? A couple of squirts of rinse-aide (I used generic brand), and a small amount of Dawn dishwashing soap. No elbow grease involved. Just gently wiped the glass, then lightly dried it. SO excited!

Sorry to hear this didn’t work well for you. Some followers have found cleaning their windows in full sunlight during the hottest time of day worked best. I’d suggest giving this a try and see if you get better results. Good luck, Tracy
