Post

We have the most popular 10 unplugged, indoor, boredom busting activities for preteen boys collected so you are ready for your next winter visit with the grandkids! We know that as soon as the weather gets bad outside, the kids tend to watch TV or play video games. Every grandma needs some games and activities to keep them having a good time with something new. The best part is, they might even learn something!

This post contains Amazon affiliate links, which means if you make a purchase through our links,  we make a little grandma cash at no additional cost to you! Win, win!

I have talked to several mama’s to see what really works to keep their boys busy when they are stuck indoors. We have found the collection that really works!

Snap Circuits Jr. SC-100 Electronics Discovery Kit

What do a flying saucer, doorbell and police siren have in common? They can all be powered by snap circuits! Make sure to have your AA batteries on hand, cause this one keeps kids going for hours.

Gravity Maze

This is just as fun for one player as it is several. Create your own track to get your marble to its target or follow one of the cards. Either way, be prepared to get hooked and have as much fun with this one as the kids do!

Spot It

This is a great game to fill hours or minutes! With several different ways to play this fast paced game will have everyone laughing! So small it is easy to take along wherever you go!

Dutch Blitz

I know, this one does not look like it would keep boys busy. Don’t let the folksy packaging fool you. This game is cutthroat! It is for up to 4 players, but trust me, you are all going to want to play. You might want to get the Expansion Pack now so no one will be left out of the game.

ThinkFun Rush Hour

40 challenges cards that can be worked on alone or collaboratively as a group will keep boys occupied and thinking. Don’t be surprised if the boys can solve the puzzle before you figure it out!

Ravensburger Labyrinth

A board game that creates mazes for 1-4 players is a must have! Part puzzle, part board game.

Edushape Marbulous Marble Run

Endless variations, hours of fun! Seriously, don’t pass this one up. Just remember to keep marbles away from younger kids. Boys will love showing you their creations and have you put the marbles in and see where they go!

Qwirkle Board Game

This game takes about 30-45 minutes to play, and will keep ages 8 and up busy and thinking. Easy to play but don’t let the simplicity trick you into thinking this will be boring. It’s a bit of a mind bender!

Indoor Snowball Fight

No need to wait for a snow storm for a snowball fight! You will be amazed at how much these have the feel of snow, without the cold, slush and mess! Not to mention no one gets hurt. These are soft and so much fun for a little physical activity in the house. Just put the breakables away for this one!

Mindware – Q-bitz

Recreating patterns from memory will not be as easy as you think! Played competitively or collaboratively, this game will come out of the box over and over again!

This collection unplugged, indoor, boredom busting activities will have you and your grandson enjoying your time together when it is too cold to go outdoors. They may be expecting to be bored at Grandma’s house, but not anymore!
