This recipe makes me laugh.  There are so many different names for this cookie – like Snowball Cookies, Italian Wedding Cookies, Mexican Wedding Cookies, Russian Tea Cakes and Butterballs but for some reason, our family actually calls them “Moth Ball Cookies”!!

Do people still know what Moth Balls are?

Moth Balls remind me of old Grandmothers.

And this recipe probably IS as old as my Grandmother but it is still one of those goodies that we ALWAYS have to have at Christmas just like my English Toffee!

Snowball Cookies. A christmas favorite! MadeFromPinterest.net

No matter what you call them, these Snowball Cookies are a classic traditional cookie for the holidays that you will love!  Just don’t hang them up in your closet next to your wool coat!

This made my day! My grandmother ALWAYS made “Mothballs” for Christmas. She passed away over 30 years ago when I was just 12. I made these as well, every year for the firat few years I was married. I lost the recipe some years back and hadn’t thought to look them up. Afterall, mothball cookies? Surely no one else called them that! And while I was pretty sure they were a Mexican Wedding cookie, just didn’t seem the same. I am so glad to have found this recipe and to know that my family is not the only weird one that eats mothballs at Christmas!
