Oatmeal Raisin Chocolate Chip Cookies

This Oatmeal Raisin Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe makes a MONSTER BATCH of cookies! Perfect for parties.

Our neighbors are a beautiful family of eight children.  My husband and I  are empty nesters so we love to watch their children play outside and to hear of their school activities and events.  Two weeks ago, we heard that their 17 year old daughter was running hurdles at school and fell and broke her collarbone which required surgery to put in a plate and some pins.

DSC_0217-2-1Knowing that this sweet young woman would probably share her cookies with her family if I made some for her, I decided to make these Oatmeal  Raisin Chocolate Chip Cookies.  This recipe makes a MONSTER BATCH of cookies  so these would give her plenty for herself and she would still have plenty to share. So I made these cookies lickety split and gave her half of the batch which ended up being about 6 dozen cookies.  I bagged up the remaining 6 dozen or so cookies and was going to freeze them and take them down to our grandsons in Phoenix the next time I went.

Well, the freezing part never happened because later that day when I was at work, I get a text from my sweet hubby that said that one of the next door neighbor boys came over asking for Mrs. McEwen.  My hubby asked if he could help them because I was gone and they said that those cookies were the best cookies ever in the whole entire world and could they have some more?  Teasingly, my husband asked them how many they wanted and they replied “24”.   So then my generous husband proceeded to give them the WHOLE BAG of cookies that I was going to freeze.  He said they went off pretty happy.   Ya think?

Don’t wait to break your collarbone to make these cookies.  Make some to give now and make sure you freeze some for later!    Hop on over to My Kitchen Escapades where we’ve shared this humongous recipe!
