Hey there! We’re Molly and Chelsea – the best friend and blogging duo behind Bests and Bites. Our favorite things include health and fitness, pool days and desserts. Like this one!

We love complicated dessert recipes and appreciate all the love and effort that goes into each one, but we love easy recipes equally as much, maybe more. We made this recipe with Valentine’s Day in mind. It’s pink, it’s festive and it’s oh-so-easy. You may even feel like you’re missing a step because it’s that easy.

Bark is one of our favorite candies to make because it takes little to no time, the ingredients are inexpensive and it turns out perfect every time. One of our favorites is this Halloween Bark we made in October. It’s becoming a theme to make a festive bark for each holiday on our blog. I think we’re going to make that a thing. Boom-it’s decided.

Not only is this bark easy, but it’s tastes so darn good. It’s chocolate after all! And red velvet. And Oreos. Throw some Oreos on anything and there’s a solid chance I’m going to love it.

The base layer is white chocolate melted and mixed with red velvet cake mix. It’s smooth and gorgeous and makes the perfect carrier for all those crumbled chocolate cookies. The key to delicious bark is quality chocolate. There are minimal ingredients in this recipe and the ones in it need to shine. I try to use Ghirardelli baking bars, but they can be quite expensive. We’ve heard Trader Joe’s name brand chocolate bars are exquisite as well.

Try to avoid using chocolate chips because of the stabilizers in them. For example, if you’re making a batch of chocolate chip cookies, the stabilizers in the chips allow them to keep their shape in the oven instead of melting all over. This is why they don’t lend themselves well to bark that needs to be completely melted and smooth.

To create the red velvet in this recipe and the festive pink color, we mixed in a bit of red velvet cake mix and dropped in some red food coloring. The more pink or red you want the bark, the more food coloring you add. It’s totally up to you!

Finally, the best part. The chocolate cookies crumbled on top. Make sure they’re really on there by pushing them down a little. When the chocolate hardens you don’t want any of those delicious cookies falling off!

The little chocolate pieces are a great size for a tiny chocolate craving or you can fill several bags or boxes for fun Valentine’s gifts!

No Bake Chewy Cookies and Cream Bars only take about 5 minutes to prepare and another 10 to set up. My kids hovered the whole time I was making these. They couldn’t wait to eat them. They are like Rice Krispie Treats except with Oreos instead of Rice Krispies cereal. I found them on Pinterest and knew I had to make them. They come from Picky Palate. I love her site. It was one of the first blogs I started reading. I hope you like these!

It’s no surprise that my favorite cookie is an Oreo! I have made three desserts that I pinned from Pinterest that are Oreo desserts… Oreo Cookie Cake, Oreo Cream Cheese Popsicles and Oreo Layer Cake! Now I can add one more to the list with these Chocolate Dipped Oreos that I pinned and was inspired by Your Homebased Mom. If you haven’t seen her blog yet, go check her out because you are in for a treat!

You are also in for a treat today with these Chocolate Dipped Oreos!

Super easy to make, just get yourself some colored dipping chocolate or some candy melts, some sprinkles and obviously…..some OREO cookies! I used both regular Oreos and the Golden Oreos.

Melt your chocolate or candy melts in a shallow bowl. That makes dipping the Oreos a little easier and then dip just the tops of the Oreos into your chocolate.

Sprinkle with your desired sprinkles but do it quickly while the chocolate is still melty so that they will stick well. Then, let cool! It doesn’t take long.

How cute to bag a few of these cookies up to give as gifts to your neighbors. I promise that they will go over with a big “bang!” They almost look like little miniature fireworks!

I have seen these cookies made in pastel colors for Easter and green and white for St. Patrick’s Day. I love these red, white and blue ones and I’m thinking that Halloween ones would be darling!

I hope you make some of these soon, because This Pin Rocks!

What is your favorite cookie? One of my all-time favorites is most definitely Oreo’s.

When I was younger, I attended our church summer girls camp as a chaperone for almost 10 years straight. Sometimes the first night can be a little intimidating as it might be the first night away from home for some girls and also because they may not know everyone in their cabin, etc. So as an ice breaker, I would always bring a couple of packages of Oreo’s and some milk and we would all sit and eat Oreo’s.

After we had all eaten some, I would pass around this Oreo Personality Test and we would all talk and laugh about how each one of us eats our Oreo’s. Here are the different ways:

1. The whole thing all at once.
2. One bite at a time.
3. Slow and methodical nibbles examining the results of each bite afterwards.
4. In little feverous nibbles.
5. Dunked in some liquid (milk, coffee…).
6. Twisted apart, the inside, then the cookie.
7. Twisted apart, the inside, and toss the cookie.
8. Just the cookie, not the inside.
9. I just like to lick them, not eat them.
10. I don’t have a favorite way. I don’t like Oreo cookies.

Keep reading for the personality explanations!

So which one were you? Are you wondering what your Oreo eating habits say about you? Read on for some serious psychological evaluations!

1. The whole thing.
This means you consume life with abandon. You are fun to be with, exciting, and carefree with some hint of recklessness.
2. One bite at a time.
You are lucky to be one of the 5.4 billion other people who eat their Oreos this very same way. You’re normal.
3. Slow and Methodical.
You follow the rules. You’re likely very meticulous in every detail with every thing you do.
4. Feverous Nibbles.
You have a tendency to work too much and do too much. You always have a million things to do and never enough time to do them.
5. Dunked.
Every one likes you because you are always upbeat.
6. Twisted apart, the inside, and then the cookie.
You have a highly curious nature.
7. Twisted apart, the inside, and then toss the cookie.
You take risks that pay off. You take what you want and throw the rest away.
8. Just the cookie, not the inside.
You enjoy pain.
9. I just like to lick them, not eat them.
Stay away from small furry animals and seek professional medical help – immediately.
10. I don’t have a favorite way. I don’t like Oreo cookies.
There’s just no pleasing you.

No matter which way you eat YOUR Oreo’s you will LOVE this Oreo Layer Cake that I pinned from House 344!

Once we woke up to our car being covered with Oreos. My husband had made the mistake of telling some of the youth at our church about his glory days, which included taking the cookie side off of an Oreo and and sticking the frosting side to a car as a practical joke. Major waste of perfectly good Oreos, if you ask me. But it provided great inspiration to these teenagers who then plastered OUR car with Oreos. PLASTERED! I can’t even imagine how many bags they used. I decided the easiest way to get the car clean was to take it to the car wash. Colossal mistake. I should have taken the time to remove as many of the Oreos as possible before entering the carwash, but instead, I foolishly drove my cookie covered car right in to the car wash while getting odd looks and stares. I can now definitively tell you that taking an Oreo covered car through the car wash drives that black cookie goodness into every crack and crevice imaginable! Like when you put your fingers under the handle to open the door. Ick! Don’t even bother with the windshield wipers. It took months before those cookies worked their way out of that car.

Oreo Turkeys are a much better use of a great cookie. It takes advantage of so many of Oreo’s good traits. I recommend double stuff for this treat because it is easier to insert the candy corn, but for eating, I like the traditional cookie. Brown Eyed Baker had the great idea to set her Turkeys atop cupcakes. I thought this would be perfect for a bake sale, or class party. Start by making cupcakes and leveling the tops like this.
In addition to the cupcakes you will need: Candy Corn, Whoppers, Reases Mini Peanut Butter Cups and Chocolate or black, yellow, red frosting. I used the ready made kind and found it helpful to get a plain tip for the details.

I ran some black icing along the edge of the cookie.

Then I inserted the 5 candy corn for the tail.

I took my cooling rack and laid it on it’s side to support the turkeys as they are drying. Then I put black icing along the edge of the feathered cookie, and stuck it to the cookie that forms the base using the cooling rack to support them while the icing hardened. They will look like they are lying on their backs.

To get a flat edge, I cut the peanut butter cups like this.

Using black frosting I attached it to the cookie. Then used frosting to attach the whopper for the head. When the icing has hardened (it didn’t take long. 5 minutes or so) you can turn your turkey right side up to add the details.

To make the beak, I broke the tip of of some candy corn, and affixed it with a dab of yellow icing. To finish it off, I ran a little red along the side of the beak for the Wattle. Are you impressed that I know that? Don’t be. I looked it up. For the eyes I used a dab of yellow and then a chocolate sprinkle. Later I ended up adding a dab of black for the eyes, because the sprinkles fell off. Then use yellow icing to add feet and your turkey is ready to perch on it’s very own cupcake. Now that your cupcakes have a flat top you can frost it and add the turkey.

This turkey rocks it’s cupcake!

Question #1 How can you make an Oreo cookie even better? Add a stick, dip it in chocolate and add crushed candy cane on top! How cute would it be to give these away as treats during the holidays? This pin comes from Lulu the Baker. Her whole site is full of amazing ideas. I was wise and hid my bag of Double Stuffed Oreo’s where the family couldn’t see them. They tend to disappear pretty quick at our house.

Question #2 How do you eat an Oreo? Me? I twist it apart, “scrape off” and eat the cream filling first, then dip the two outside pieces in milk and consume. For all subsequent cookies you must dip them in milk, let it soak for at least 10 seconds and then try and get it in your mouth before it falls apart.

In case you need further instructions on proper Oreo cookie eating techniques watch this DARLING commercial from the UK. The cutest little girl is “teaching” her daddy how to eat Oreo’s. Now that you have been properly trained in the art of eating “Oreo’s” let’s get down to business.

Ingredients Needed

1 package double-stuffed Oreos (the regular ones aren’t thick enough)

2 bags white candy melt

Paper lollipop sticks (6-inch work best)

4 candy canes, crushed

1. Get out 2 or 3 cookie sheets and line them with parchment paper or waxed paper. Very carefully twist the tops off of all the Oreos and set all of your little Oreo bits and pieces on the prepared cookie sheets. Don’t crowd them. 12 per sheet worked great.

2. Using the end of a chopstick or a skewer you dig a little channel in the cream filling on each Oreo. If you start at the edge and gently work toward the middle (instead of starting in the center and moving outward), you won’t randomly lose big chunks of filling.

3. Put your candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. In this case, tall and narrow is better than short and wide. Think measuring cup, not pie plate. Melt them according to package directions.

4. Dip the end of a lollipop stick in melted candy and set it in one of the Oreo cream filling channels you dug in step 2. Gently push it all the way in and all the way down. Gently! If you push too hard, the Oreo will break.

5. Take an Oreo top, spoon a tiny bit of candy onto the blank side (dime-sized at the most), flip it over, and put it back onto its mate. “They are married now”

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 with the rest of the Oreos and sticks, and let them sit until completely set.

7. If the candy melts need a quick reheat before moving on, feel free to microwave them again briefly.

8. Take an Oreo Pop and dip it in the melted candy until it is completely covered. You might need to tilt your bowl and kind of roll or swish the Oreo Pop around to get it covered. Once it is completely covered, hold it parallel to the table and gently tap the stick against the side of the bowl so that the excess candy coating drips back into the bowl. If you make sure to hold the Oreo Pop flat while doing this, any unevenness on the front will smooth itself out. And the back might look like a mess, but no one will see it.

9. Set the dipped Oreo Pop on it’s back on one of the prepared cookie sheets and sprinkle with crushed candy canes. Allow to set.

10. Repeat steps 8 and 9 with your remaining Oreo Pops.

11. For added affect, drizzle a design with any remaining white candy melt

12. When they’re all dry and set, wrap them any way you want.

These took me about 45 minutes to make, you want to be careful as the Oreo’s will break when “pressing” them back together after the stick is in them. They are a great project to do with the kids. And boy do they taste great! Yup……

This Pin ROCKS!
