Plus, it’s super easy to make. Time consuming? Yes. But since I can’t stand to watch a movie or TV with my hands still, it’s the perfect project to do while binging on Netflix. And if you have a husband or significant other-type person sitting next to you to help, all the better. You don’t have to have super crafting skills to get this done, just a little perseverance.

Valentine Heart Wreath Materials:

• 8 inch foam heart form
• Several sheets of pink cardstock
• Hydrangea flower punch (Martha Stewart brand carries the one in this picture)
• Corsage pins or straight pins with a white head

Step 1. Get to punching. I used about 3-3 1/2 sheets of 12×12 cardstock for this project. I use different shades of pink because in the end it gives it more texture and a more interesting look than it all being the same flat pink. Again, this is a great in-front-of-the-TV activity. Or pawn this part off on your partner (like I did).

Step 2. Bend and pin. Layer up two of your little flower punches and gently bend the petals inward. Punch one of your pins through the middle. You’ll want to twist the top petals around so they don’t completely line up and make a full looking flower.

Step 3. Pin, pin, pin. Pick a starting point on your foam form and start pinning the flower petals on. I like to do rows at a time for the sake of knowing all the white spaces are covered. Keep pinning on until the entire foam heart is covered. I used around 140 sets of flowers for my heart; your number of flowers will vary due to heart size and how close together you put them.

Step 4. Totally optional. But when I was doing this project, I quickly noticed my corsage pins were a whole lot longer than my heart form was thick. Easy enough to fix. I ran out to the garage and got the wire cutters and trimmed down the pins to be flush with the foam form. Makes your pretty heart less of a health hazard, but not totally necessary to the project. Your form and pins may work well enough together that you don’t have to do this!

As I said, it takes some time to punch and pin all those flowers but the end result is worth it! You can hang as part of a cluster of Valentine decor or just set amongst your things as a pretty little Valentine perk.

Do you love red, white and blue?  I absolutely love decorating my house for a patriotic holiday.  We aren’t big fireworks people, (that’s a story for another day!) but I love seeing all the red, white and blue decorations for a patriotic holiday.

And with my Minc Foil Applicator from Heidi Swapp, it is easy to get big bold red, white and blue color for projects like this!   Look how stunning and rich these foil colors are.  I’m in love!

In order for the Foil Applicator to work, you just need to print anything you want (is that cool or what?) from a laser printer.  I don’t have one of those at home so I purchased these papers from Creative Market and took them to my local print shop to have them copied off on to some card stock.  Voila!  Super easy.  I then put them through the applicator to bond the foil to the paper.  (To learn how to use this machine, see directions HERE.)

Heidi’s Minc Foil Applicator can be found at Michael’s, JoAnn’s and also online.  Seriously.  Do you have a birthday coming up?  Then go and treat yourself to one of these machines.  You are even going to want to foil your toilet paper.   Ok maybe not.  But you are going to want to foil everything else!

To make this paper wreath you will need:

1. 12″ floral foam wreath.  I could only find a green one and I didn’t want any green showing through my red, white and blue papers, so I quickly spray-painted mine white.

2.  Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive

3.  Card stock paper either printed and foiled or you can also use pre-printed papers.

4.  Scissors or a paper cutter

INSTRUCTIONS:  After foiling your paper, cut them into strips.  I cut mine about 1 1/2″ by 10 inches, but if you’d like longer strips, you can definitely cut them a little longer.

After cutting, spray both ends with the bonding spray and then wrap it around your wreath, lining up the edges together.

If one end is slightly wider than the other, make sure the wider end is on top so you don’t have any white from the back of the paper showing through.  Press to seal.

Continue on around your wreath until you are satisified with the coverage of the wreath.  Then you will want to cut a “v” shape into the ends:

That’s it!  Now you’re ready to hang this stunning wreath for the holidays.   (Prepare to receive compliments.)  Everyone ALWAYS wants to know how I foil my projects.  There are other ways, but this Minc machine is by far the easiest.

Hi Everyone! This is Melanie Artz from Artzy Creations again. Are you in love with succulents as much as I am? It seems like succulents are all the latest rage right now. I fell in love with succulents after having lived in California for many years. Succulents come in such a beautiful variety of colors and textures, but the best part for me was that they were very low maintenance. Now that I am living in Seattle, I can say that it’s really hard for me to keep my succulents alive, especially in the winter time. So, I decided to create a wreath using faux succulents. It can’t get any easier than that, right? I also wanted to create a look that would be perfect for the outdoors and was somewhat rustic. I used a recycled wine barrel ring also because I loved how worn it looks. Let’s get started and see just how easy it is to create this DIY Wine Barrel Ring Succulent Wreath.

Wine barrel rings come in different sizes between 22″ & 26″. Typically when you order wine barrel rings, you will have to order them in multiples, and you will probably end up with varying sizes and thicknesses.

Supplies:

• Wine Barrel Hoop
• Floral Wire
• Moss
• Several Faux Succulents of Various Sizes
• Wire Cutters
• Hot Glue (Optional)

Step 1: Gather a variety of succulents that have various colors and textures.

Step 2: Taking the large wire cutters, trim the succulents so the stem is an 1″ to 1-1/2″ long.

Step 3: Taking a long piece of floral wire (at least 24″), wrap it around the stem of the succulent and then wrap it around the wine barrel ring.

Step 4: Start placing the succulents in the middle of the wreath and work your way out.

Step 5: At the end, go back and fill in places with the moss. You can also use wire or hot glue to attach the moss to the bottom of the ring and hide all of the wire.

In no time at all, you can create this beautiful outdoor decor piece for your patio area, entrance way, or even hang it on the outside of your home permanently. The faux succulents will last forever on this piece… no watering required. You’ve gotta love that.

But wow.  We have had some incredible projects that were presented this week and we hope that you found more than one great idea to get you into the fall mood!

But wait! We still have three more darling creations to inspire you and one of them is a Mason jar Wreath that my sister Tracy made.

Check this out!  Don’t you just love these colors?

Here is our tutorial to make one for yourself.  It’s so easy that you are going to want to make more than one!

Supplies

• 28 to 32 Large or regular size mason jar rings
• Spray Paint I used Krylon: Blue Ocean Breeze, Bauhaus Gold, Ivory, Matte Clear Coat and Rust-Oleum Colonial Red and Rust-Oleum Hunter Cream
• Fall colored Washi tape
• Ribbon for to string the mason jar rings together
• Ribbon for a bow

To paint the outside of the mason jar rings with an even coat of paint I slipped the mason jar ring over a plastic cup. I used a long wooden kabob stick and slid it inside the plastic cup. Spray paint the out side of the mason jar ring. I then slid the ring on a piece of parchment paper to dry.

When the outside of the rings are dry, flip them over and paint the inside of the rings. It’s much easier to paint the inside of the rings laying flat on parchment paper than the outside of the rings.

When the inside of the rings are dry, place a ring back on a clean plastic cup and spray with a clear coat of matte spray. This will keep the paint from chipping off when the rings come in contact with each other as you string them together and pull them into a wreath shape.

When the clear coat of matte spray has dried, thoroughly apply the Washi tape on some of the rings. I used a small amount of 6000 glue where the beginning and end of the Washi tape met. Let the 6000 glue dry on each ring. Then cut a long section of ribbon and slide your jar rings on the ribbon in the order of your choice. When you have all the rings on the ribbon tie the ends together and cinch until the rings form a wreath shape. Tie off the ribbon. Make a bow to match your jar rings, attach it to the wreath and your wreath is now complete!

Okay, so I’m not really THAT old but when I was younger I would take my pictures and glue them to a piece of paper and then go through my magazines and cut out quotes and pictures and stuff and glue them next to my pictures in my notebook. I was way before my time. Too bad I had no clue about what was to come. I could have made a fortune!

Fast forward a little bit, I am now a mom and I have two daughters and a son. One of my daughters enjoyed crafts and the other daughter….well….didn’t. She would much rather be reading or inventing stories around her myriad of imaginary characters that were her friends.

This daughter recently got married last December and now she is VERY interested in making things for her new home with her darling husband. What better time to make something than around Easter and Spring time? I knew the perfect craft to get her started! Super simple and easy, we decided to make a Spring Mesh Wreath that I pinned from Miss Kopy Kat.

Isn’t this gorgeous?

Here is what you will need:

16″ to 24″ wreath form, Deco Mesh rolls in whatever color you desire.  You can even use four colors even though we used three.  Pipe cleaners or chenille stems ( we cut ours in half), and scissors.

Cut your mesh down the entire length of your roll, anywhere between 9″ to 12″ wide. This will make a little spiral.

Roll the spiral a little tightly and pinch it in the middle.  Gather your three or four colors together and wrap the pipe cleaners around the pinched middle.  It should look like this:

Next take your pipe cleaners and wrap them around the two middle wires of your wreath form.  Twist tightly.   Here is the back of ours:

And HERE is our finished project!

This came out a little larger than we expected but look how great it looks on the door from further away.  Sure can’t miss this baby!!

After a successful craft project , we couldn’t end the afternoon without going out to lunch.  And what better place than The Cheesecake Factory.?   I had  an amazingly fun day with my  beautiful daughter who is now a professional crafter.

Now it’s time to for me to go and organize my film negatives….what?…you don’t know what negatives are?

With cheesecake in my stomach I can report that This Pin Rocks!

Yes, it makes a big mess when being cut, but I’ve found the results to be worth it. So it’s no big surprise that I fell in love with this burlap wreath from Jenni at The Roseland Family Blog.

Supplies  Scissors – Pen – Burlap – Wreath – Glue Gun and Glue SticksI traced my pattern using a Crayola Marker and a 11″ plate. Cut your circle by going inside the lines of your marker. WARNING – cutting burlap makes a huge mess everywhere! Your clothes, cutting surface and on the floor. Trying to sweep it up caused it to become “air borne” and makes a bigger mess. I found a thorough vacuming to be much more effective. You may even find small pieces of burlap days later. Doesn’t bother me because like I said I just love the look of burlap. Even in my carpet.

Once your circles are cut out, you cut them in a spiral with a width of about 1.5 inches. I “eyeballed” it, the fact that it may not be perfect only makes the rosette better in my opinion.

Roll your rosette by starting at the spot where you started cutting your circle into a spiral. This is what it will look like as you begin rolling your rosette. This is what your flower should look like when it is all rolled up and turned upside down.Put hot glue on the bottom of your rosette.Glue down the last small piece of burlap over the bottom of your rosette.Trim off excess material. Now for the best part, put hot glue on the bottom of your rosette and glue them down on the inner edge of your wreath.  If you want more rosette’s, place them closer together, or you can space them farther apart and have less rosettes. It all depends on how you want yours to look. I like mine packed close together.

Time to hang your wreath on your door and admire all your hard work! I love how mine turned out. I gotta tell ya that….

When Gabby said you need to “cut a lot of tulle” she wasn’t kidding! It had been a long day so sitting to “cut and tie” tulle was actually pretty relaxing. Once I got all the tulle tied on it was time for a  “trim”. This was not a problem as I happened to be a licensed cosmetologist. So my wreath received a highly skilled “trim” from a professional.

Supplies

* Wreath form

* Tulle about 4-5 yards on one wreath. The length of your tulle depends on your wreath form.  I shop at JoAnn’s and I can usually find a coupon in the paper or on my phone. Another great place is Hobby Lobby, again find a coupon in the paper or on your phone.

* Accessories or embellishments

The wreath form was $5, my tulle was on sale for $.77 a yard at Hobby Lobby for a total of $3.85. I had the skeleton heads from last years decorations. So the total cost for this wreath……$8.85!

I’m totally pleased with the results, my alterations did not ruin the wreath (yes, I was worried) just gave it a fun but different look and feel.
