These are REAL tips given to the women of the 1950’s from a Women’s Magazine. I can’t believe some of the things they are suggesting you do. Like “Prepare the children: Take a few minutes to wash the children’s hands and faces if they are small, comb their hair, and if necessary, change their clothes. They are little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part.” Oh my gosh. Nowadays, if my children are still alive and have had at least one meal by the time my husband gets home from work, we are doing really good!

Oh, and this one. I cannot believe this one. “Make the evening his: Never complain if he does not take you out to dinner or to other places of entertainment; instead, try to understand his world of strain and pressure, his need to be home and relax.” WHAT?! What about the woman’s need to get out of the house away from the little circus that is her life? Seriously. I’m so glad that I live in the 21st century where it’s OK for a man to be in the kitchen!

Don’t get me wrong. I am a housewife. I work from home. For my family, me being home is a blessing. I am so happy to be at home raising my family. But I feel like I’m my husband’s equal in all ways. We have different roles in this life and I’m just fine with that. BUT these ideals from the 1950’s are way out of whack! And would make me go insane. Literally.

I think nail polish with a cute “You Nailed It” tag is perfect as a favor or a prize for the winner! No need to get too extravagant or spend too much money.

How to play:
“Do you think you know what it means to be a good wife? This paper contains text from a real book used to teach the girls in high school on “How to be a good wife.” Have the ladies read the excerpts, take the papers back, then hand out the quiz. When everyone is done, correct the answers and give a prize to the one who got the most correct answers. This game is great for all ages!

Alternative directions:
Read the textbook sheet out loud to your guests, then hand out the quiz sheets. When everyone has finished, the one with the most correct answers wins.

Another way to play:
Have the guests fill out the question sheet first, then read their answers to everyone. This can get really funny! Then read the correct answers as you go along, using the full text excerpts from the paper.

It’s always fun to have a prize for the winner. But make sure you have a few in case of a tie.

Hi to all of The Made From Pinterest Fans! This is Melanie from Artzy Creations and I’m excited once again to share this coloring page with you. Lately, I’ve really gotten into creating coloring pages. I’ve been an art teacher now for over eighteen years and have always loved drawing. Both of my daughters have a great love for drawing too. Sometimes, when I couldn’t find just the right coloring pages for the girls, I would create my own for them. So, this Free Christmas Ornament Coloring Page was actually a special request by my oldest daughter who wanted some pretty ornaments to color in. Now, I’m sharing it with all of you! If you haven’t tried coloring a coloring page in awhile, (which I admit, I hadn’t done in a long time before I started creating these), you’re in for a real treat. Coloring pages are actually very relaxing and give your busy mind a chance to unwind just a little bit. So, why not give it shot and see what you think!

This is a great coloring page to keep the kiddos occupied over the upcoming Holiday break. Use crayons, colored pencils or markers… take your pick. You and your kids will love it!

It never fails.  Anytime we have someone staying with us, the poor things have to go out of their way and ask us, “What is the Wi-Fi,” password here?”

Not that I’m bothered by them asking at ALL, but I knew it was time to give ’em what they needed, and take out the trouble of them having to ask us.

So, when I saw an idea of how someone else displayed their Wi-Fi password, I knew it was something that I needed to do, like…PRONTO.  I originally found the idea on Pinterest, from Michelle, over at EleganceandEnchantment.  Lucky you, she even GIVES you the download  of her design, so you can edit your password in, and make it your own!

But, if you follow me over on Fantabulosity, you know I always seem to think I have to make “tweaks,” to something… so I did.  Although I love Michelle’s design, I wanted a little bit of a “nautical/modern,” theme to mine, to go with the rest of my guest room decor.

So where and how did I create mine?  I created it over on Canva.com.  Lucky lucky, they had super cute arrow images, that I was fond of, and just found a couple of fonts that I loved, and typed it all out.  It seriously only took me 5 minutes.  LOVE those types of DIY’s!

Other Wi-Fi password printables that I have seen, are usually framed in an 8×10.  For my guest room, I felt that size overpowered the room.  My guests aren’t there to just use the wi-fi, so I figured I’d let the other room decor stand out, rather than a big printable.    I chose to print it, and frame it in a 5×10.  I’m so glad that I did… it looks fabulous on my little night stand.

Valentine’s Day isn’t too far away, so we’ve come up with a very quirky–and very FREE–printable you can use to make your own “o-FISH-al” greetings for the day of love!

Scroll down to download the PDF file below and print it out at home or send it off to your local copy store and let them print it for you.  We recommend printing them on cardstock.

The free file contains a page of four fishy valentines that you can cut out and attach to your favorite “fish food”.  We suggest Swedish Fish or Goldfish Crackers.  Did you know there are princess goldfish that are pinkish purple?  (Perfect for Valentine’s Day!)

Notice that these cards only have a space for “from”, not “to.”  That’s because of a busy mom tip we’ve got for you: simplify your life by having kids write their own name in the “from” spot.  Don’t worry about writing the names of everyone in their class on the Valentines when they are handing them out to the entire class!  It is much less stressful for the kids and makes the distribution go so much faster in the classroom!

‘Tis the Season….for giving and receiving!  And we’ve made a FREE printable for you that is just perfect for teaching kids to show appreciation for all of the gifts that they’ve received.

Scroll down to download the PDF file below and print it out on your computer or send it off to your local copy store and let them print it for you.

The printable file will print four postcards per page.  When trimmed, each postcard meets U.S. Postal service regulations for size and shape, and only costs $0.34 to mail.  (We recommend printing these on sturdy cardstock.)

One side of the postcard is blank.  It’s the perfect spot for kids to use their imagination to create a special work of art for the recipient of their postcard.

The other side has just enough room for a note of thanks, an address, and a stamp.

You’ll notice that we’ve kept the postcard pretty simple and it is not holiday specific.  This is one you can use year round, for any occasion!

Our little helpers went the extra mile by pulling out craft scissors to cut their postcards so that they would have decorative edges.  Nice!

This FREE printable is the perfect way to kick off your holiday decorating spree, since it’s a phrase from just the right song to put you in the Christmas spirit:  “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”.

I love incorporating natural elements into my holiday decor, so it was fun to add this printable to the mix.  Pine cones are plentiful in my neighborhood.  Snow is not…..so I had to add a few snowflakes with fabric and ceramics!

Pine cones of different varieties can be found all over North America.  It’s pretty unusual to live in a city that doesn’t have at least one spot where you can gather them.  If you are able to gather a few of your own, there are some really fun ways you can use them to create inexpensive decor or gifts.  I spotted these three ideas on Pinterest:

There’s just something about the change in the weather to cooler temperatures and the sound of leaves crunching underfoot that makes me take a step back and look at the world around me with fresh eyes.  I think that’s why I love this quote from F. Scott Fitzergerald’s The Great Gatsby so much:

“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.”

I thought it was the perfect sentiment to share alongside a fall vignette.  So….we turned it into a printable that is perfectly sized for an 8×10 frame!

I had fun finding some touches of fall to put around my framed quote.  I shopped my house and one of my favorite grocery stores to put together this little Autumn display.

The vase is a favorite find from Target last spring.  I love the little yellow sculpted flower–it reminds me of a chrysanthemum or dahlia!  Since the printable is so literary, I had to have some books nearby.  I pick up vintage Reader’s Digest Condensed books whenever I find them at thrift shops, because the covers have such pretty colors and patterns.  I drew a pile of pumpkins on my chalkboard.  Since fall foliage isn’t very spectacular in my area, I keep a few of these fabric leaves on hand to use in my Fall decor every year.  The flowers and gourds came from Trader Joe’s.  (In case you haven’t heard, they have incredible prices on fresh flowers!)

See those teeny-tiny pumpkins?  They actually come on branches, and they are known as pumpkin trees.  They are a type of ornamental eggplant.  Who knew?  I think they are adorable, and so fun to decorate with throughout the harvest season.  I think they are sold by many florists, but you can definitely find them at Trader Joe’s, this time of year.

We had a whirlwind romance, dated for 9 days, (yes 9 days!), got engaged, and married 6 weeks later in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Our first daughter Kaitlynn was born 10 months later.
